Jen Bierly

My name is Jen Bierly, and Wilson has been my home gym since I was 4 years old.  I grew up doing gymnastics through the WSGD program and was a part of the competitive team throughout my time in school.  I competed at Levels 9 and 10, and one of the biggest highlights of my athletic career was going to Level 9 Eastern Nationals. At the age of 16, I became a class instructor for WSGD. I was given the opportunity to transition into coaching competitive gymnastics and have been doing so for about 11 years. Recently, I returned to coaching full time almost two years ago.

Coaching gymnastics has many rewarding aspects and would have to say that my favorite part is being able to help an athlete achieve their goals and skills. I get to work with athletes of all ages, so seeing a new team child get their roundoff back handspring is just as exciting as helping the optionals get their giants!  I attended Wilson College and Penn State University. I am a USA Gymnastics Professional Member and hold USA gymnastics Safety and Risk management, and Safe Sport certifications.

Ashley Heisey

Wilson has always been my second home.  I started classes at Wilson when I was three years old in 1997. I moved to the competitive gymnastics team in 2001 and I competed through my senior year of high school ending my gymnastics career in 2012 at level 9.  My gymnastics experience helped me excel at pole vaulting in high school for Mercersburg Academy.  This allowed me the opportunity to continue onto collegiate athletics.  I pole vaulted for Valparaiso University (Valparaiso, In) and got a Bachelor’s degree in Social Work.  While in college I coached competitive gymnastics and classes at Horizon Gymnastics and Cheer Academy.    I then returned back to the area and pursued my Masters in Social Work at Shippensburg University.  I currently am a social worker at Manor Care in Carlisle, PA and remain very active in sports.  I was the assistant coach of the Chambersburg Trojan gymnastics team for the 2016-2017 season, currently coach pole vault at Shippensburg Area Senior High School, and judge both PIAA High School gymnastics and USAG competitive gymnastics.  In my free time you can catch me outside hiking or spending time with friends and family.

I was a competitive gymnast at Wilson for 9 years and a competitive cheerleader at Wilson for 1 year. I competed through level 8 for gymnastics and was a level 4 cheerleader. I graduated from Kutztown University in 2018 with a Bachelor’s degree in Biology and a minor in Biochemistry. I have been coaching classes at Wilson for 8 years and recently started coaching team.  One of the things I love most about being back at Wilson and coaching team is getting to work with kids who I have known since they were tots.
